Behaviour Consultancy
Behaviour Consultancy is the essential first step when your dog is showing behaviours of concern such as anxiety, aggression, fear, reactivity, shutdown, hypervigilance or other changes in mood, arousal or regulation.
A Behaviour Consultant’s role is to conduct a clinical, evidence-based assessment that looks far beyond training. We investigate the why behind the behaviour, exploring the full spectrum of factors that influence an animal’s emotional and behavioural health including genetics, neurobiology, pain, disease processes, endocrine function, environmental stressors, developmental history and learned associations.
Using these findings, your consultant develops a multimodal, welfare-centred intervention plan and links you with a full case-support team where needed ensuring every facet of your dog’s wellbeing is addressed.
You cannot simply “train” a dog who is struggling with behavioural health issues. Effective behaviour work involves stabilising the dog’s psychological, emotional and physical state to a place where learning, safety and regulation can occur. This process goes far beyond teaching cues — it is about restoring comfort, resilience and quality of life.
With Behaviour Consultancy you receive:
- Comprehensive clinical assessment
- A tailored, structured behaviour programme
- Ongoing investigative work with your wider care team
- High-level emotional support for both you and your dog
- Evidence-based interventions that prioritise welfare and safety
Behaviour Consultancy ensures you and your dog are met with compassion, expertise and a gold-standard, multidisciplinary approach to behavioural health.
Important: In Ireland, behaviour work is not regulated. Anyone can call themselves a “behaviourist” or “behaviour professional”. For the safety and welfare of your dog, it is crucial that you seek support from a certified, accredited professional with recognised credentials and clinical training.
